Harbec Inc. is promoting a new service to help companies find and develop sustainable strategies for injection molding of consumer, medical and industrial products.

The firm’s Biopolymer Partners Program is designed to steer companies to bio-based polymer solutions for sustainable strategies by reducing or eliminating petroleum-based materials. The Ontario, N.Y., company also works with biopolymer suppliers to sample, validate and assess how their materials fit demands of potential customers.

Harbec President Bob Bechtold says the program “is our way to bridge two worlds: materials developers and product developers.” The overall goal of the program is “to streamline and accelerate the transition of bio-based polymers into more mainstream products.”

The program is an offshoot of Harbec’s experience in prototyping, engineering and molding services.
