INDIANAPOLIS — Pay in the plastics industry has stabilized, according to the 2014 Manufacturers Association for Plastics Processors (MAPP) Wage and Salary Report.

“More than 70 percent of the job categories analyzed from this year’s survey showed rate changes ranging from 0 to 5 percent compared to 2013,” said Troy Nix, MAPP executive director, in a news release.

Executives from 91 percent of the respondents said their companies plan to hire new employees over the next 12 months.

“Not only are a majority of the companies hiring, they are offering a variety of benefits to attract workers,” Nix said. “Medical insurance is being offered to 94 percent of the surveyed population. Life insurance is offered to 86 percent and dental to 82 percent.”

The report includes data on more than 50 job classifications from plastics manufacturing-related firms. The classifications represent more than 14,500 hourly and salaried employees located in 32 states.
